Big game from freshman Avery Robshaw leads Bucksport girls basketball to a win

BUCKSPORT- Bucksport freshman Avery Robshaw recorded a double double and scored a game-high 22 points, as the Golden Bucks went on a 14-0 run in the second quarter in rolling to a 52-26 girls basketball win over Waterville at Ralph J Jewitt Gymnasium on Monday afternoon.

Robshaw added 11 rebounds and two blocked shots in the Bucksport win, while another freshman Ella Simpson recorded 11 points, three rebounds, and two blocks. Robshaw was named Dirigo Nutrition Player of the Game. Also chipping in for the Golden Bucks was Rowan Jergenson with eight points, Lucia Ferreira with seven points, six assists, and four steals, and Aivah Tweedie with three points, five rebounds, and two steals. Senior captain Madison Gervais led Waterville with 10 points and four rebounds. Also getting into the scoring column for the Purple Panthers was junior Hailey Snipe with eight points and three rebounds, Roselyn Martin with three points and five rebounds, Madison Wilson and Brooklyn Hart each had two points, and Danikah Harrison chipped in one free throw for one point. Bucksport went 16-27 at the foul line, while Waterville was 4-13.
