In a very exciting Yankee Small College Conference matchup at the Hub in South Portland on Wednesday night, Chance Mercier (Ellsworth) lit it up for #10 Southern Maine Community College scoring a game-high and a career-high 33 points (7-10 three-pointers) as the Seawolves eeked out an 89-88 win over #8 UMaine-Augusta in overtime. Franck Moron secured the victory for SMCC with a blocked shot on Matthew Searway (Windham) of UMA on the final possession of the night to help his team improve to 14-5 and 5-5 in the YSCC. Rocco Chang put in 24 points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss for the Moose, as they had their eight game win streak snapped in falling to 14-9 and 9-2 in league action.
