Maine shot 54.7% from the floor and 13-26 from the three-point line on Saturday afternoon, and throttled UMass-Lowell 92-42 in America East women’s basketball action on Skip Chappelle Court at Memorial Gymnasium in Orono.
Jaini Edmonds led the Riverhawks with 13 points, while Tyanna Medina added 10. UMass-Lowell shot just 29.3% from the field and 5-37 (13.5%) from behind the arc in falling to 6-16 and 0-9 in America East. 10 out of the 12 players that got playing time got into the scorebook for the Black Bears, who built a 27 point first half lead and never looked back. Asta Blauenfeldt (10-17 FG, 6-11 three-pointers) had a career-high 26 points, while Adrianna Smith put in 21 points and fell just short a triple double with 11 rebounds, eight assists, three steals, and one blocked shot. Lala Woods chipped in 10 points (2-3 three-pointers). The 92 points are the most they’ve scored vs. a Division I opponent since an 88-60 win over Army in the 2022-23 season. Maine improves to 11-11 and 6-3 in conference play and will travel to Vermont to face the Catamounts on Thursday with an 11 a.m. tip-off time.
