Aubrey Wood had a game-high 18 points on Wednesday morning to lead Machias to a 47-38 Class D girls basketball semifinal win over Central Aroostook at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The Bulldogs outscored the Panthers 15-4 in the fourth quarter to secure the win and will face Penobscot Valley in the regional championship game on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Olivia Reynolds added 12 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocked shots in the victory for Machias. Loretta Richardson contributed 10 points and Leah Libby had seven. Harleigh Allen and Lilly Burtt had 10 points a piece for Central Aroostook, while Maggie Mahan chipped in nine points.
