Lawrence went on a 12-0 run stretching from the second quarter and into the third on Friday night to take the lead for good, in winning the Class B girls basketball state championship with a 52-41 victory over Oceanside at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
The Bulldogs were led by their dynamic duo of Maddie Provost and Ashley Shores. Both had 19 points, with Provost recording a double double with 14 rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots as they outscored Oceanside 28-12 in the second half. Lawrence (17-5) wins their first state title since 2023 when they were in Class A, and their seventh championship overall. Olivia Breen led the Mariners with 17 points and eight rebounds. Oceanside was seeking their second title in the last three years and finishes as the runner-up with a record of 20-2.
