Valley girls win second straight basketball state title

Make it back to back girls basketball state championships for Valley High School. The Cavaliers built a 16 point first half lead on Saturday, and cruised to a 48-30 victory in the Class S final played at the Augusta Civic Center.

Delia Hill led the way with 13 points and four rebounds for the Cavaliers. Liana Hartwell added 10 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Kirsten Bigelow chipped in eight points and five rebounds, and Rylee Clark had seven points and grabbed nine rebounds. Valley, who won the Class D state crown last season, ends up with a final record of 21-1. Ava Lerman had a game-high 20 points in the loss for the Pioneers. Wisdom, who was playing in their first state game since 1998, is the runner-up with a record of 20-2.
