Miami-Hamilton, CMCC advance to the USCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship game

In Buffalo, New York on Friday- The USCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship game is now set, as Miami-Hamilton and Central Maine Community College were both victorious in semifinal games.

Miami-Hamilton, after putting up 41 first half points, would put up another 40 in the second half and would pull away from the University of Maine-Augusta 81-66. Kirsten Cross was on fire for Hamilton as she recorded 34 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocked shots. Annabelle Morris (Skowhegan, Thomas College) led the Moose with 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Lillian Cox (Madawaska) and Yvonne Roberge both had 16 points, while Bella Petrocci contributed 14. UMA ends their season at 21-7 in which was there first ever appearance in the semifinal round.

Central Maine Community College, the #1 overall seed, held off Penn State York in the other semifinal 74-67. York had cut the CMCC lead to 60-59 with 4:12 left in the fourth quarter on a layup by Harper Poff, but the Mustangs then went on a run of 11-3 to put it away. Six of those points came from Breanna Dwyer. Delaney Burroughs and Kaya Camasta led PSU-York with 19 and 18 points respectively, as they end their season with a record of 24-4. Dwyer led the way for CMCC with 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Josie Friend added 12 points.

The Central Maine Community College Mustangs (28-1) and the Miami-Hamilton Harriers (15-7) meet for the national title on Saturday at 5 p.m. CMCC is making their sixth appearance in the championship game, while seeking their fourth title (2017, 2019, 2022).
