Hearts of Pine open their United Soccer League season with a road win over the Cosmos

The Portland Hearts of Pine opened up their 2026 United Men’s Soccer League One season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over the New York Cosmos at Hinchliffe Stadium in Patterson, New Jersey.

The Hearts got second half goals from Konstantinos Georgallidis, Masashi Wada, and Aboubacar Camara. The one by Wada was the game winner in the 76th minute, just three minutes after the Cosmos had tied it. Hunter Morse made five saves in net for Portland, who plays their first four games on the road prior to their home opener on Saturday, April 11th at Fitzpatrick Stadium against One Knoxville Soccer Club. The Hearts of Pine in their inaugural season in 2025 were one game away from reaching the league championship game, but they were stopped by the Spokane Velocity in penalty kicks in the semifinal round.
