Chris Sale has strong outing: Benintendi stays hot

Chris Sale pitched four scoreless innings in his second spring training outing for the Boston Red Sox.

Sale allowed one hit and one walk, while striking out five against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Sox held a 2-0 lead when Sale left the game. Pablo Sandoval and Mitch Moreland each had a run scoring hit.

It is a split squad day for the Red Sox. The other group is trailing the Twins 6-0 in the fifth inning. Henry Owens got roughed up for six runs in 2.1 innings. Andrew Benintendi has a double and walk in his two plate appearances in that one. Benintendi is hitting .385 this spring.
