Thomas softball wins first Conference championship since 2004: LeBourveau earns MVP honors

The Thomas Terriers softball team scored two runs in the sixth inning to defeat Castleton 2-0 and capture the first North Atlantic Conference championship for Thomas softball since 2004. 

Sydney LeBourveau pitched seven shutout innings and hit a double that scored a run. LeBourveau allowed only four hits. She walked four and struck out three. 

LeBourveau earned MVP of the North Atlantic Conference tournament.

LeBourveau pitched a two hitter in a 5-1 win over Castleton in the Terriers opening game of the tournament. LeBourveau also had two hits and two RBI.  Lexi Colpack, Courtney Veilleux, and Korrie Laren had two hits each for Thomas.

Thomas reached the championship game by defeating Husson 5-3 on Friday afternoon.

LeBourveau allowed two earned runs in a complete game six hitter. She also hit a double and scored two runs. Lauren Farina had two doubles and three RBI.

Castleton defeated Husson 4-3 on Saturday afternoon to set up the championship showdown between Castleton and Thomas.

Castleton needed to defeat Thomas to set up a winner take all game on Sunday. LeBourveau and the Terriers didn’t allow that to happen.

Joining LeBourveau on the all-tournament team were Farina, Colpack, and Katie Taylor of Thomas. Jen Jones and Bri Brochu of Husson. Kayla Wood, Timi Carone, and Sara Baker of Castleton. Brianna Castellano and Debra Mazzeo of New England College.
