June 16, 2017

Chris Sale was the best pitcher, hitter, and base runner for the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night. It wasn’t enough as the Red Sox fell 1-0 at Philadelphia.

Sale pitched a complete game four-hitter, striking out 10 and walking only one. Sale ripped a double to lead off the top of the eighth with the game still scoreless. Sale moved to third base on a fly ball from Mookie Betts. Dustin Pedroia struck out and Xander Bogaerts was retired to end the inning.

Pablo Sandoval struck out twice, including chasing three balls out of the strike zone for the final out of the game. Jackie Bradley JR and Sandy Leon reached base twice. The Red Sox start a three game series in Houston on Friday.
