Earlier this week it was announced that former University of Maine point guard Sigi Koizar will be starting a professional basketball career.
A team in Hungary called ZTE NKK has signed Koizar for the upcoming 2017-18 season. NKK finished 9-11 last season, seventh place in their division.
Koizar, a native from Vienna, Austria, played high school basketball at Stearns in Millinocket. As a Black Bear, Koizar was an all conference selection in three of her four years. She averaged 14.1 points per game in her senior season, leading Maine to a second straight appearance in the America East championship game. She was also named recently as an NCAA woman of the year nominee.
