Red Sox bats remain hot in series opener win over White Sox

The Boston Red Sox scored four runs in the first inning and three more in the second inning as they never trailed in a 9-5 win over the Chicago White Sox at Fenway Park on Thursday night.

Andrew Benintendi led the offensive attack by reaching base four times, including going 3-3. 

Mookie Betts and Rafael Devers each hit a home run. Eduardo Nunez, Hanley Ramirez, Mitch Moreland, and Christian Vazquez recorded two hits each. 

Rick Porcello (5-14) struggled through 5.1 innings, but was able to pick up the win. Porcello allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks. He struck out six. The Red Sox bullpen pitched 3.2 perfect innings. Every player in the starting lineup had at least one hit for the Red Sox. 

The Red Sox have now won three straight games and four of their last five.
