The University of Maine womens basketball team picked up their first road win of the season Saturday afternoon, with a 64-51 victory over a hot Dartmouth team at Hanover, New Hampshire.
In a back and forth close contest, the two teams were tied 32-32 at the half. Maine took a slight 49-47 into the final quarter, and outscored the Big Green 15-4 in the final 10 minutes to pull away to improve to 6-4.
Fanny Wadling led the scoring for Maine with a career high 18 points and five rebounds. Parise Rossignol finished with a career high 14 points, while Tanesha Sutton scored 13 points and hauled in six rebounds. Maine shot 45 percent from the floor, including 7-19 from three point range.
Kate Letkewicz led Dartmouth (6-2) with 15 points and four rebounds. Cy Lippold added 12 points. Dartmouth shot 34 percent from the field. The Big Green had started the season with their best mark since 2014-15, when they also started 6-1.
Maine travels to SEC territory next Sunday when they battle Mississippi State in Starksville at 2 p.m. The game can be seen live nationally via the SEC network.
