BANGOR- Kolleen Bouchard recorded 25 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks, and two steals to lead the Houlton Shiretowners to a 65-26 win over Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) in a class C Girls basketball quarterfinal game on Tuesday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
Erin Speed scored the first basket of the game to give the Pirates a lead. Speed also gave PCHS a 4-2 lead. That would be their last lead of the game. Bouchard sparked a 10-2 Houlton run as they took a 12-6 lead.
The Shires held an 18-11 lead after the first quarter. Bouchard accounted for all the points with 14 points and two assists.
The Pirates cut the deficit to 21-15 early in the second quarter. That is when Houlton started an incredible 34-0 run that lasted until Speed put in a basket with 7:10 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Speed recorded 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists to lead the Pirates. Bailey Lemieux put in seven points, while Brooke Kujawski had three. Alivia Hunt had one basket in the first quarter before she had to leave for the game due to a knee injury. PCHS finishes the season with a 15-5 record.
Aspen Flewelling and Teagan Ewings had 12 points each for the Shires. Flewelling also had nine rebounds. Abbie Worthly put in five points, Tessa Solomon added four points, five rebounds, and three steals. Kristen Graham scored two points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Morgan Graham and Emma Ardell chipped in with two points each, while Jamie Brown made one free throw. Houlton (19-0) will play Central in a semifinal game on Friday afternoon.
