Richard Barron takes over as head coach for University of Maine men’s basketball

ESPN insider Jeff Goodman reported earlier today that the University of Maine and head men’s basketball coach Bob Walsh decided to part ways.

Walsh said that he decided not to pursue a contract extension. The Black Bears were 24-100 in the four years Walsh was head coach.

Rich Kimball from the Downtown with Rich Kimball show reported that Richard Barron will take over the position of men’s basketball coach. The University made that official earlier this afternoon.

Barron was a big reason for the Black Bears women’s program recent success. He coached the women’s program until he got ill in January of 2017.
