For the third straight game Brad Marchand played Bruins hero. Coming off back to back games where Marchand scored the game winning goal in overtime, Marchand provided the heroics in the third period Thursday night. The winger netted his 29th goal with just 22 seconds left to lead the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over Philadelphia at TD Garden.
Jakub Voracek scored a powerplay goal to give the Flyers the first period lead, before Riley Nash and Brian Gionta each netted a marker that gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead after one period. Philadelphia scored on a goal from Jori Lehtera to tie it in the second making it 2-2.
Philadelphia (34-23-11) was 1-5 on the powerplay on the night, and goaltender Alex Lyon made 24 saves in the loss. Boston (42-15-8) was 0-3 with the extra man, and goalie Tuuka Rask earned the win with 31 saves. The Bruins have won five in a row.
Boston will play a home and home with Chicago this weekend, hosting the Blackhawks at 1 p.m. Saturday, before heading to Chicago for a 12:30 faceoff Sunday.
