The America East regular season and tournament champion Maine Black Bears women’s basketball team found out their NCAA Tournament location and opponent during the selection show on ESPN Monday night.
Maine (23-9) will head for Austin, Texas to battle the host and nationally ranked #6 Texas Longhorns (26-6) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Frank C. Erwin Jr. Center. The Bears got a #15 seeding, and Texas is the #2.
Texas finished in second place in the Big 12 regular season (15-3), and lost the Big 12 title game to #3 Baylor 77-69.
Maine is appearing in an NCAA Tournament game for first time since 2004. The game can be seen on ESPN 2.
