Kyleigh O’Donnell allowed only one hit in six shutout innings to help the University of Maine Black Bears softball team complete a doubleheader sweep over Iona.
The Black Bears got two hits each from Laurine German and Kristen Niland as they rolled to a 5-1 win in game one at Clearwater, Florida on Tuesday morning. Lilly Volk allowed one unearned run in five innings to pick up the victory in the circle. Molly Flowers pitches two shutout innings to earn the save.
In game two, Alyssa Derrick drove home the only run in a 1-0 Maine win. O’Donnell and Annie Kennedy took care of the rest. Kennedy pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn her second save of the season. Maine (6-11) will play at South Florida on Wednesday.
