Annie Kennedy earned two wins in the circle as the University of Maine softball team swept a doubleheader over UMBC at Kessock field on Saturday afternoon.
Kennedy pitched six shutout innings in a 3-0 game one victory. Kennedy allowed three hits and didn’t issue a walk, and struck out five. Molly Flowers pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the save. Rachel Carlson and Kristen Niland had two hits each, while Alyssa Derrick hit a two run double.
In game two, Kennedy pitched 2.1 innings of relief, allowing one unearned run in a 5-3 Black Bears win. Kyleigh O’Donnell started and allowed two unearned runs in 4.2 innings. Laurine German and Maddie Decker had two hits each. Carlson and Erika Leonard had two RBI each.
