St. Agatha, Maine native Tracy Guerrette ran in the Boston Marathon Monday in tough conditions that included chilly temps, rain, and blustery wind.
Guerrette finished 22nd in the elite women’s division, and 25th overall of all female runners. Desiree Linden became the first American woman to win the women’s division in 33 years. Guerrettes time was 2 hours, 54 minutes, and 2 seconds.
Guerrette, who played high school basketball at Wisdom, walked on to the University of Maine women’s basketball team in 1998. In her four years for the Bears, she was a two time captain and competed in two NCAA tournaments, including playing with current head coach Amy Vachon and with the team that knocked off Stanford. After her playing days, Guerrette was a head coach and sports information director for four years at University of Maine-Presque Isle. She also served two stints as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Maine women’s basketball team.
