The NCAA announced the field for the upcoming NCAA Division III softball tournament championships on Monday afternoon.
The Husson Eagles (21-13), winners of Sundays North Atlantic Conference title, will face #22 Williams College (35-6) in a first round regional on Friday at Williams College. The regional will take place from Friday to Sunday and will use a double elimination format. Western New England and Tufts are also in the regional field being hosted by Williams.
The Ephs of Williams won the NESCAC title with a win over Bowdoin College from Maine on Sunday. Williams is being led by Lexi Curt who is batting .427 with 13 homers and 45 RBI. Kirstin Maples is hitting .369 with 10 homers and 40 RBI. Rebecca Duncan is leading the way in the circle with a 15-3 record and a 1.72 ERA. MacKenzie Murray is 14-1 with a 1.90 ERA. Between Duncan and Murray, they have 174 strikeouts in 198.2 innings pitched, with 121 in 114 innings by Duncan.
Olivia Smith leads the Husson batters with a .476 average with 5 homers and 29 RBI. Morgan Coleman is hitting .316 with 4 homeruns and 25 RBI. Madelyn Fowler is at .359 with 3 homers and 20 RBI. Bri Brochu was red hot during the NAC tourney and is hitting .339. Jen Jones leads the way in the circle with a 16-7 record and a 2.44 ERA. Jones has 160 strikeouts in 160.1 innings pitched.
After Husson won the NAC tournament Sunday, the league announced some end of the year awards. Husson took two awards, as Terren Allen was named coach of the year, while sophomore pitcher Jones was named pitcher of the year. Sydney LeBourveau from Thomas College was named player of the year, while Kayleigh Oberg from UMaine-Farmington was the rookie of the year.
