Williams cruises past Husson softball in NCAA regional

MacKenzie Murray pitched a complete game two hit shutout, and six different players had RBI hits Friday afternoon to lead the #12 Williams College Ephs to a 6-0 win over Husson University in a first round NCAA regional softball game at Williamstown, Massachussets. The regional is being hosted by the Ephs of Williams.

Lexi Curt started things with a solo homer in the bottom of the first for the Ephs. Casey Pelz made it 2-0 with an RBI infield single in the second. Williams (36-6) doubled up the lead in the third when Kirstin Mapes hit an RBI single, and Brenna Martinez roped an RBI double to left center making it 4-0. Kristina Alvarados RBI single in the fourth, and Murphys RBI triple in the sixth finished off the scoring.

Murphy (15-1) only allowed a pair of singles to Chloe Gorey and Tamara Aunchman in the 7.0 inning effort, with no walks and two strikeouts. Jen Jones (16-8) took the loss in the circle for Husson, allowing five earned runs, 10 hits, with four walks in 6.0 innings.

Husson (21-14) faces an elimination game against Western New England on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 pm.
