BREWER– The Brewer Witches continued their dominance in class B when they defeated Foxcroft 10-1 Maine Principals’ Association softball semifinal game on Saturday afternoon.

Libby Hewes allowed only one run on five hits in a complete game effort. She struck out seven, while not issuing a walk. Hewes also helped herself by reaching base three times, including two hits, one run scored, and one RBI.

Jordan Goodrich and Kenzie Dore also had two hits each. Goodrich scored two runs, including smacking a two run homer in the fourth inning.

Brewer got on the scoreboard in the third inning when they took advantage of a Ponies error to score three runs. Foxcroft cut the deficit to 3-1 when Kierra Prescott led off the fourth inning with a single and came around to score on a Jenna Clukey double.

Brewer responded quickly when Goodrich hit her blast to right field. The Ponies had a threat in the fifth but that was halted when Brewer centerfielder Emily Lord made a perfect throw to the catcher Goodrich to retire Cassidy Marsh at the plate. The Witches put the game away with five runs in their last two at bats.

The top three in the Witches order combined to go 7-11 with five runs scored and four RBI. MJ Sellers had one hit, one run scored, and one RBI. Olivia Cattan walked twice and scored two runs. Brewer (18-0) will take on Oceanside in the regional final on Wednesday, June 13th at Brewer high school with a 3 PM scheduled first pitch.

Mackenzie Beaudry allowed 10 runs (six earned) on eight hits and four walks, while striking out seven for the Ponies. Foxcroft finishes the season with a 15-4.
