Tyler Parke hit a two out walk off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh on Tuesday evening, to lead the Bangor Rams to a 5-1 win over Oxford Hills in the Class A Northern Maine title game at Morton Field in Augusta.
Cam Slicer broke a scoreless tie in the top of the sixth with a sacrifice fly to drive in Ty Leblond to make it 1-0 Vikings. The Rams came right back as James Neel drove in Noah Misbrenner with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to make it 1-1.
Oxford Hills (15-4) starter Colton Carson walked the first two Bangor batters in the bottom of the seventh, forcing him over his pitch count. Reliever Wyatt Williamson came in and with the bases full and would face Parke with two out. Parke had struck out three times in the game, but would rip one to right center field that cleared the fence to end the game.
Carson took the loss, allowing three earned runs and striking out 14 in 6.0 innings for the Vikings. Rams starter Zach Cowperthwaite earned the win allowing just a run on two hits with five strikeouts in a 7.0 inning effort. Click here for video replay of the game.
Bangor (18-1), the five time regional champ, will now go for their fifth straight state title when they face Gorham on Saturday at St Joe’s in Standish at 1 pm.
