The Maine Mammoths picked up their second National Arena League in franchise history Saturday night, both against the same opponent. Maine routed the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 62-36 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland on Saturday, with their last win coming back in week 3 at Lehigh Valley 45-24.
After a week off with a new starting quarterback, the Mammoths turned back to Jonathan Bane. Bane responded by tossing five touchdown passes on a 15-22 effort with an interception. Devin Wilson had eight catches for 142 yards and caught all five touchdown passes from Bane. Desmond Maxwell and Jackson Dallas both had rushing scores. On special teams, NAL special teams player of week Henry Nell made 7/7 on PAT attempts, 0/1 field goals, and made a pair of successful deuces. Robert Brown Jr. led the defense with a fumble recovery.
Maine is now 2-7, while Lehigh Valley drops to 0-8. Maine travels to Jacksonville next Saturday for a 7 pm kickoff with the Sharks. Jacksonville has won both matchups with Maine so far this season by an average margin of 21 points.
