Red Sox fall in series finale at Chicago

Brian Johnson struggled and the Boston Red Sox bats were silenced in an 8-0 loss to the White Sox at Chicago on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson allowed four runs in 1.1 innings. Bobby Poyner and William Cuevas each struggled out of the bullpen as the Red Sox got down 7-0 and couldn’t recover.

The Red Sox only got five hits, JD Martinez and Xander Bogaerts each had two hits. The Red Sox have a record of 94-44, with the Yankees also losing on Sunday, the Red Sox still lead the American League East by 7.5 games. There magic number is 18 to win the division.

The Red Sox will start a three game series at Atlanta on Labor Day afternoon. Nathan Eovaldi is scheduled to be on the mound for the Red Sox.
