Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 263 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had six Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Alexis Michonsk scores six goals this week to help the Skowhegan field hockey team say undefeated. Michonsk joins Adam Dusty (10-20-11), Marcus Christopher (10-8-17), and Ashley Alward (4-23-18) as student/athletes from Skowhegan high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.
The Charles Inn female athlete of the week
Alexis Michonsk- Skowhegan – field hockey- recorded a hat trick in 4-1 win over Messalonskee. Scored two goals in 4-2 win over Mt. Blue. Scored one goal in 4-1 win over Oxford Hills.
Runner up
Mackenzie Kain- PCHS – field hockey- scored two goals in 3-2 win over Orono. Scored one goal in 2-1 win over Stearns.
Other nominations
Lauren Cyr- Orono – field hockey- recorded a hat trick in 4-3 win over John Bapst .
Jillian Shorey- Hermon – field hockey- scored two goals in 4-1 win over Mattanawcook.
Ava Rayfield- Foxcroft – field hockey – had four goals and one assist in 8-0 win over PCHS.
Avery Herrick- Dexter – soccer- scored winning goal in final seconds in 4-3 win over Foxcroft. Scored three goals in 8-0 win over Bucksport.
