Walker hits late homer to delay Sox clinching party

September 18, 2018

Neil Walker slammed a three run homer off Ryan Brasier in the seventh inning to give the New York Yankees a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday night.

Nathan Eovaldi pitched six shutout innings. He allowed only two hits and two walks, while striking out five. Brandon Workman struggled with his control walking two, setting up the dramatics from Walker. Eovaldi has pitched 14 shutout innings against the Yankees since joining the Red Sox.

The Red Sox had a chance in the ninth inning thanks to the Yankees making two errors. The game ended on a Ian Kinsler double play.

The Red Sox will try again tomorrow night to clinch the American League East. It will be a David Price/Luis Severino pitching matchup.
