Orlando had all five starters score in double figures Monday night at the TD Garden, as the visiting Magic upset the Boston Celtics 93-90.
Orlando (2-2) led by as many as 13 in the opening half, and never trailed in dropping Boston to 2-2. The Magic had their lead cut down to just two points in the third quarter, before extending it back to 13 on a 13-2 run. The Celts got within a point twice in the final quarter on a Daniel Theis layup with 9:39 left, and a Kyrie Irving shot with 14.4 seconds left. After Orlando made two from the foul line to extend the lead back to three with 7.8 seconds left, Boston got a three point look from Irving with 5.5 seconds left, and another from Gordon Hayward with 1.6 seconds showing on clock after an Al Horford offensive rebound but neither would fall. The Celtics shot 9-40 from the three point line on the night, and 41% from the floor overall.
The Magic were led by the starters scoring 79 of the teams 93 points. Nikola Vucevic had 24 points, Jonathan Isaac 18, Evan Fournier 14, Aaron Gordon 13, and D.J. Augustin with 10. Irving led the Celts with 22 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Horford had 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Hayward in his first start since breaking his leg in season opener last season, had 11 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Boston will visit Oklahoma City on Thursday night at 8 pm to battle the Thunder.
