The Husson Eagles continued their domination of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference on Saturday afternoon, blitzing past Castleton at Dave Wolk Stadium in Vermont 48-0.
Husson (6-2, 5-0 ECFC) only attempted 13 passes on the day and had no touchdowns throwing the ball, as the Eagles used their ground game to chew up 353 yards of their 393 total yards of offense. Solomon Hassen led the way with 24 carries for 152 yards and four touchdowns. Miece Loureiro also added 77 yards on seven carries. Quan Soyini had a 68 yard punt return for a score, while defensive back Zach Connolly also picked up a fumble and returned it 31 yards for a score. Bryan Cedeno added a 19 yard touchdown run. Derek Barden had 10 total tackles to lead the defense, while Elvin Suazo added nine as the Eagles also forced five turnovers and had a total of four sacks. Husson has now outscored their conference opponents 241-65 in five contests.
Castleton (1-7, 0-4) had 94 yards rushing on the day, and were led defensively by Seth Gewanter and Grant Cummings who had 13 total tackles a piece.
The Eagles return home next Saturday when they welcome Gallaudet to the Winkin Complex for a 12 noon kickoff on Senior Day.
