Maine football head coach Joe Harasymiak has been named a finalist for the 32nd FCS Eddie Robinson Award, which honors the Football Championship Subdivision national coach of the year.
Harasymiak, in his third season at the helm of the Black Bears has led Maine to an 18-14 record and 15-9 conference mark since taking over the position from Jack Cosgrove in 2016. This season he helped the team finish with their best mark since 2013 (8-3, 7-1 CAA), and first playoff appearance and outright CAA title since the 2013 team. Maine was 5-0 this season against ranked opponents, and also with a win over Western Kentucky early in the season gave the Bears their third ever win in program history over a team from the FBS.
The Eddie Robinson Award will be given out during the FCS Awards Banquet on January 4th in Frisco, Texas. Maine awaits their second round opponent in the upcoming NCAA Div IAA playoffs where it will host either Jacksonville State or East Tennessee State on December 1st at 12 noon at Alfond Stadium.
