GUILFORD – Schenck outscored Piscataquis Community HIgh School (PCHS) 25-3 in the third quarter and cruised to a 45-22 win in a mutual season opener on Friday night.
Samantha Falone put in 12 of her game high 17 points in the third quarter. Falone and Julia Stanley combined for 18 points in the quarter.
The teams played to a 5-5 first quarter. The Wolverines built the lead to 18-7 late in the second quarter. PCHS cut the deficit to eight on a Meagan Lemieux three pointer right before the halftime buzzer.
The Wolverines turned up the pressure and their defense helped create the big offensive third quarter. Schenck forced 30 PCHS turnovers.
Falone added three rebounds and three steals. Stanley recorded 10 points and six rebounds. Cassie Russell and Olivia Gallant put in five points each, Madison McDunnah chipped in with four points while Kirsten Russell and Lauren Cote had two points each. Cote came off the bench to grab six rebounds. Schenck (1-0) will play their home opener on Monday against Lee Academy.
Macee Pearl put in five points to lead the Pirates. Elizabeth Kendall has four first quarter points. Lemieux, Hope Adkins, and Olivia Riitano had three points each, while Sydney Hutchins and Haylee Hartford chipped in with two each. PCHS (0-1) will host Mattanawcook on Monday.
