December 21, 2018

Just a day after both football head coach Joe Harasymiak and defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman announced they will be leaving the University of Maine, the program has confirmed they have hired the next head coach.

Nick Charlton, who most recently was the offensive coordinator, will be named the new guy in charge as first confirmed by Jessica Gagne of NewCenter Maine via a University of Maine official. Charlton first came to Maine in 2015 and served as the receivers coach. In 2016 and 2017 he was the special teams coordinator, before serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2018.

Charlton prior coming to Maine served as a recruiting graduate assistant and assistant to special teams coordinator in 2012 with Boston College. In 2013 and 2014 he was a graduate assistant and helped with the offense and quarterbacks with the Eagles.
