Keegan Gentle named Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 277 past athlete of the week winners. 

This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Keegan Gentle has helped the Houlton boys basketball team get off to a hot start to the season. Gentle joins Kyle Bouchard (4) (1-3-16), Jimmy Fitzpatrick (10-14-12), Kolleen Bouchard (19) (3-5-18), Natalie Hill (9-27-15). Seth Holston- (9-11-16), and Tessa Solomon (11-6-17) as student/athletes from Houlton high school to earn athlete of the week honors.

Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week

Keegan Gentle – Houlton- basketball – had 32 points (12-13 FT) in 68-61 win over Presque Isle. Had 23 (12-15 FT) in 98-35 win over Hodgdon. Had 23 points and eight rebounds in 66-52 loss to Caribou. Had 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 63-39 win over Central.

Runner up

Isaac Varney- Hermon- Basketball- had 31 points and 10 rebounds in 97-94 triple overtime win over Oceanside.

Other nominations

Grant Kidon- PVHS- Basketball- recorded 16 points, eight steals, five rebounds, and four assists in 48-26 win over Penquis.

Matt Parent- Messalonskee- Basketball- scored 20 points in 53-52 win over Waterville.

Trevor Richards- Dexter- basketball- 19 points, nine steals, five assists, and five rebounds in 73-53 win over PCHS.

Brett Kusnierz – Dexter – basketball- had 10 of his 16 points in the first half in 73-53 win over PCHS.

Nathan Richards – Dexter- Basketball- recorded 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals, and three blocks in 73-53 win over PCHS.

Isaac Varney- Hermon- Basketball- had 31 points and 10 rebounds in 97-94 triple overtime win over Oceanside.

James Anderson- Mt. Blue- basketball- had 33 points in 75-74 overtime win over Cony.
