Tom Brady tossed four touchdown passes Sunday afternoon, as the New England Patriots wrapped up a first round bye and at least the #2 seed in the AFC playoffs with a 38-3 thumping of the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium.
Brady threw touchdown passes of 17, 18, and 9 yards in the first half to James White, Rex Burkhead, and Phillip Dorsett as New England rolled to finish the regular season 11-5 by building a 21-3 halftime lead.
Kyle Van Noy returned a fumble by New York quarterback Sam Darnold 45 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, and Brady tossed his last touchdown pass to Julian Edelman of five yards in the fourth. Brady went 24-33 passing, 250 yards, and four touchdowns. Sony Michel led the run game with 14 carries for 50 yards. Edelman had five catches for 69 yards, while Chris Hogan had six for 64. JC Jackson had seven total tackles, and Trey Flowers added six with one sack. New York (4-12) had 271 total yards and two turnovers, with Darnold passing for 167 yards on 16-28 passes.
New England now has the week off and will await their opponent for the Divisional Playoff Round and will play at home either January 12th or 13th.
