At EMCC Friday, Penobscot jumped out to an 11-3 lead and never looked back, as they defeated Bangor Christian 50-23. Reece Carter led the scoring early, hitting a three, a free throw, and a put-back off a rebound. Six Howlers scored in the second quarter, pushing the lead 27-12. BC’s Brady Reed tried to keep his team in the contest, connecting on seven first half points.
PVHS broke the game open in the 3rd quarter, scoring 16 points while playing outstanding team defense, holding the Patriots on only one point.
Grant Kidon led the Howlers offensively with 11 points, while Carter and Elijah Wood finished with nine and eight points. Bradon Blish and Zach Mitchell scored six each. Penobscot Valley improve to 7-2, and travel to Schenck on Monday.
Reed scored a team high eight points for Bangor Christian, while Robert DeRoche netted six. They drop to 1-9 and host Searsport on Monday.
