At Milo, the Howlers took their 7 game winning streak into Oakes Gymnasium Tuesday evening, and left with a 62-22 victory over the host Penquis Patriots.
Both team’s offense was sputtering early, as two field goals and a handful of free throws was the only scoring Penobscot Valley had in the first frame. Their defense was good however, keeping Penquis scoreless and holding a 9-0 lead after one quarter. Six Howlers scored in the second quarter, as they pushed their lead to 27-9 at the half.
Penobscot Valley was able to outscore Penquis 35-13 in the second half to come away with the win.
Elijah Wood led all scorers with 16 points, while center Zach Mitchell had a solid game with 13. Reece Carter finished with 9, while Brad McKechnie (6), Grant Kidon (5), and Zach Doore (5) each had 5 or more. All nine Howlers that suited up scored.
The Patriots had eight different players score, and were led by the (Freshmen) Cyr twins, with Cayden finishing with five and Corbin scoring four.
The Howlers improve to 13-2 and host Mattanawcook Academy on Thursday. The Patriots fall to 1-14 and travel to Stearns Wednesday.
