Makenzie Beaudry from Foxcroft Academy to play for two time national champions

March 22, 2019

The Big East girls basketball player of the year will be playing for the national champions next season. Makenzie Beaudry averaged 16.6 points, 14.8 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game for the Foxcroft Ponies during the 2018/2019 season to earn conference honors as top player.

On Friday afternoon, Central Maine Community College (CMCC) women’s basketball coach Andrew Morong announced that Beaudry will be joining his Mustangs squad for the 2019/2020 season. CMCC defeated Villa Maria 85-78 on March 6th to claim their second straight USCAA women’s division II National championship. Beaudry was also selected to the Maine McDonalds senior all star team. Beaudry also has excelled on the field hockey field and in the circle for the Ponies softball team.

“She (Beaudry) has excelled at a very high level as a three sport student-athlete, and that’s something that was very attractive to us. Individually, Makenzie had an incredible basketball season for Foxcroft. Her stat line was just ridiculous, but as impressive as that was, that is not what necessarily what caught our eye,”Morong said. “She genuinely enjoys working hard and competing. The athleticism she possesses for her size should help her make a serious impact next year. As she expands her versatility for the college game and spends the off season working through our strength and conditioning plan, she should really blossom. She is an amazing young woman who fits in with everything we do here at CM and we are thrilled she will be joining us this fall.”

CMCC has a strong group returning plus they have added Kylee Joyce from Narraguagus high school, India Morrell from the UK, and now Beaudry.
