SPORTSWRITER ERNIE CLARK HONORED BY MABC AT MAINE McDONALD’S® ALL-STAR BASKETBALL BANQUET

BANGOR, Maine – The Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) this evening presented its Media Award to Ernie Clark of Dover-Foxcroft. The award for outstanding coverage of Maine high school basketball was presented at the 2016 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games awards banquet in Bangor.

Clark has covered Maine high school sports as a reporter and broadcaster for three decades. He has worked as a sports reporter and editor at the Morning Sentinel in Waterville, editor of Maine RoundBall Magazine, host of a sports talk show for WZON radio in Bangor, and color commentator and interviewer for Maine Public Broadcasting Network’s coverage of the high school basketball tournaments.

Now a sports reporter for the Bangor Daily News covering primarily high school sports, Clark is a four-time recipient of the Maine Sportswriter of the Year award as presented by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He was a 2015 inductee into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.

Also honored at the MABC Awards Banquet were the Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Players, Regional Foul Shooting Champions, All-
Star Coaches, members of the All-State Academic Team, the Maine McDonald’s Spirit of the Game Award recipients, and the MABC Contributor Award honoree.

The 2016 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games marks McDonald’s 28th consecutive year as lead sponsor of this event. This year’s games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 12. Game day tickets are good for all four Games and may be purchased at the door. year’s All-Star Weekend raised more than $32,000.00 for the Charities.
