May 6, 2019

The Husson Eagles softball team found out Monday afternoon their opponent and location for their first round game of the 2019 NCAA Division III softball tournament. Husson is coming off back to back North Atlantic Conference championships.

Husson (24-9) will head to Massachusetts to play regional host and #21 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Friday. The double elimination tournament will conclude at the regional site on Sunday. The Engineers enter Fridays game with a record of 27-10-1, losing their conference tournament over this past weekend but garnering an at large bid.

MIT won the Super Regionals in both 2016 and 2018, advancing to Oklahoma City site of the national championship series but fell short in each trip. The Engineers represent the New England Womens and Mens Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). The other two teams in this weekends regional tournament include Rowan College (30-12), and Eastern Nazarene College (28-13). Rowan represents the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), while Nazarene is out of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). The game times will be announced by the NCAA at a later time, but Husson and MIT will be playing in game number two of the day as Rowan and Eastern Nazarene will open up.

The Eagles captured the NAC title on Sunday on a perfect game thrown by Jen Jones 8-0 in five innings over Thomas College.
