Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 293 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Matt Burnett has a big game with his seem and bat to lead undefeated Ellsworth to a big win over Brewer. Burnett joins Nick Bagley (12-6-14), and Javon Williams (9-9-18) as student/athletes from Ellsworth high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.
Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week
- Matt Burnett- Ellsworth- Baseball- allowed only one hit and struck out 11 in six shutout innings plus had three hits, including a double and triple in 3-0 win over Brewer.
- Grant Kidon- PVHS- Baseball- had a double, homer, and five RBI in 12-1 win over Penquis.
Other nominations
- Kyle Kruse- Skowhegan- Baseball- pitched a three hitter in 3-0 win over Brunswick.
- Cole Stevens – Oceanside- Baseball – had three hits and three RBI in 6-4 win over Nokomis.
