The PCHS soccer teams have been a traditional Class C program. That will change this season when they move from Class C North to Class D South.
The Pirates have a balance of newcomers and veterans to fill out the roster.
“My expectations is that we gel as a team with the mixture of 4 seniors, 4 juniors, 4 sophomores and 8 freshmen,” PCHS coach Joe Gallant said. “This is team that is determined to fight for a playoff spot especially since we will be in Class D for the first time.”
The Pirates have a defender and goalie crew that coach Gallant has plenty of confidence in. They also have a young group that will try to bring their winning ways with them to the high school level.
“I have confidence in all three goalies on this team. I only graduated one defender and I have a proven defender back on the team after taking her junior year off,” Gallant said. “The incoming freshmen class won the small school soccer championship this past fall so they are a proven bunch eager to help the Pirate Ship right itself to get back to the playoffs.”
The Pirates will have a tough schedule with Class C contenders Dexter, Central, and Penquis two times each on the schedule. They also will take on Class D North contender PVHS and Class D south challenger Greenville twice. They will start the season with a home game against Dexter on September 6th.
