2019 Preview
Record 2018- 4-10
Missed the Playoffs
Head Coach- Luis Ayala (18th season)
Preview courtesy of Coach Ayala
Expectations- We look to bounce back from an off year of not making the playoffs. We started strong at 4-1 then injuries hit us and we finished at 4-10. With those injuries a lot of young players got valuable Varsity experience.
Strengths- We have a veteran group coming back. A senior class that has had a lot of experience playing together. But it all starts with our Captains this year. They have led this team this Summer by going to camps, playing in the summer league, and just getting everybody ready for the season.
Challenges- Is just to keep the enthusiasm for this season going all year. The kids have come really excited for this season. We have a very challenging schedule that includes games at Presque Isle, at Caribou, and at MDI.
Key Players/Position
Enrico Ayala (Sr) – returning Captain, Left Out side Mid
Sam Harmon-Weeks (Sr)- returning Captain, Offensive Mid, Right Forward
Jacob Raynes (Sr)- returning Captain, Right Out side Mid.
Hunter Clarke (Sr)- Captain, Stopper, great defender, good ball skills, and great speed.
Shadane Hamilton (Sr)- Forward, great finisher and great field awareness.
Coach’s Remarks-
We had a great number of kids come out for soccer this year. With 38 kids trying out this year that means that everybody is pushing each other for those starting spots. This just makes our level of soccer better. The kids have been putting the time to improve on their skills this summer by going to Soccer Camps and playing in our summer league games. I am really excited and proud of this group of kids. They have made a commitment to soccer and it shows.
Class B is a very competitive league. We have returning State Champions Presque Isle that is going to be solid again, plus Caribou, Hermon, John Bapts, and Old Town are always contending at the top. I like our chances though. This year we are going to make some noise not only in the regular season, but in the playoffs.
