The Boston Red Sox announced early Monday morning that they have fired team president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski.
Rumors of the news started floating around Fenway Park in the early innings of a 10-5 loss to the New York Yankees. Dombrowski was the architect behind the Red Sox’s 2018 World Series championship and had a contract that ran through the 2020 season.
Dombrowski was hired in August of 2015. After two years of not making the playoffs, the Red Sox won three straight division titles and a World Series under the leadership of Dombrowski. The big moves were acquiring Craig Kimbrel and Chris Sale in separate trades. He also signed JD Martinez and David Price. Another big move was naming Alex Cora manager before the 2018 season.
Jared Carrabis hinted of the news before it broke.

The Red Sox have many decisions coming up. What are they going to do with Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley JR having contracts after 2020, Rick Porcello contract is up after this season. How are they going to add depth to the starting rotation, who is going to be the closer and so on. With three weeks left in the regular season the saga will continue. We will find out soon who will be running ship to get this team back to where they went just one year ago.
