Christmas morning was postponed for a day. Not really, but that is how it may have felt to Boston Red Sox fans on Monday afternoon when it was announced the season opener against the Cleveland Indians was postponed.

The game will be made up on Tuesday afternoon at 1:10 PM. David Price will take the mound as scheduled. The Red Sox and Indians will play the final two games of the series on Wednesday and Thursday, with Clay Buchholz and Joe Kelly scheduled to pitch for the Red Sox.

Rick Porcello will pitch the opener of a series at Toronto on Friday night. Blue Jays will put their ace Marcus Stroman on the mound in their home opener. Where the Monday postponement impacts the Red Sox rotation is on Saturday and Sunday. John Farrell was planning on bringing Price back for Saturday. The return of Price to Toronto will now have to wait until Sunday. Knuckleballer Stephen Wright will pitch on Saturday afternoon at Toronto. Buchholz is scheduled to pitch the home opener against the Orioles next Monday. Of course all that will change if the Red Sox and Indians are not able to get in all three games of their series.
