Sydney Gallop earns Charles Inn female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 305 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had 10 Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Sydney Gallop scored eight goals in leading the Hermon Hawks soccer team to three wins. Gallop and the Hawks are 13-0 heading into the final week of the regular season. Gallop joins Tyler Thayer – (2-17-14), Karli Theberge-(7) (5-29-16), Alex Allain (2) (10-23-17), Isaac Varney (2-19-17), Breanne Oakes (4-22-17), Garrett Trask (9-16-18), and Wyatt Gogan (9-23-19) as student/athletes from Hermon high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

  • Sydney Gallop – Hermon – soccer- scored three goals in 5-1 win over Ellsworth. Had three goals in 6-1 win over MDI. Scored two goals in 3-0 win over Presque Isle.

  • Peyton Grant- Dexter – soccer- had four goals and two assists in 6-0 win over Penquis.

Other nominations

  • Emily Reichenbach – Skowhegan field hockey– scored three goals in 6-0 win over Messalonskee. 
  • Chelsea Cookson- PCHS- field hockey- scored three goals in 5-0 win over Mattanawcook.
  • Rylee Speed- Central– soccer – had two goals and one assist in 3-0 win over Orono. Had two goals in 7-0 win over Sumner. 
  • Alexys Dow– Dexter – field hockey- scored two goals in 3-0 win over Stearns. 
  • Jillian Frost- MCI- field Hockey- scored three goals and had one assist in 7-1 win over Maranacook. Scored one goal in 3-0 win over Morse.
  • Gabby Ayotte- Ashland – soccer- scored four goals in 9-3 win over Wisdom.
  • Ava Rayfield- Foxcroft- field hockey- had three goals and one assist in 8-0 win over John Bapst.
  • Daisy Granholm- MDI- soccer- scored three goals in 5-1 win over Foxcroft and now has set a school record with 38 goals in a season.
