David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand each scored a goal and had an assist and Brett Ritchie scored the game winning goal on Tuesday night helping the Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 at TD Garden in Boston. The two teams had just played in Toronto on Saturday with the Maple Leafs winning in overtime.
Boston took the lead when Pastrnak scored on the powerplay at 17:51 of the first period. It was the 10th goal in just nine games so far this season. Toronto (5-4-2) evened the score twice in the second period. Kasperi Kapanen evened it 1-1 with his third of the season at 4:23. The Bruins once again took the lead when Marchand scored 1:46 later. The Maple Leafs had the answer when Alexander Kerfoot made it 2-2 with a powerplay goal at 12:54. Ritchie got the game winner on an assist from Jake Debrusk at 6:35 of the third period. Par Lindholm put the game away right after the end of a Toronto powerplay scoring his first goal at 17:57 to provide the final difference. It was just the second career goal for Lindholm.
Tuuka Rask stopped 28 shots in net for the 6-1-2 Bruins. Kapenen was the only multiple scorer for the Maple Leafs with a goal and an assist. Michael Hutchinson made 35 saves in the loss between the pipes. Both teams went 1-4 on the powerplay.
Boston has a pair of games this weekend, one at home and one on the road. The Bruins meet St. Louis in a Stanley Cup Finals rematch on Saturday at TD Garden at 7 p.m., before hitting the road for Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers on Sunday at 7.
