Hughes and Grant power Dexter to prelim win over Washington Academy

DEXTER– Torrey Hughes and Peyton Grant teamed up to produce three second half goals to lift the Dexter Tigers to a 4-1 win over Washington Academy in a class C North girls soccer prelim game on Friday afternoon.

The only first half goal came on a goal from Olivia Peakes with 30:42 remaining in the half. Grant assisted on the Peakes goal.

The second half started with a bang for the Tigers. Hughes set up a Grant goal just 2:54 into the half and Hughes assisted Grant again just 20 seconds later. The final Dexter goal came on a beautiful corner kick from Hughes that Grant put into the back of the net. Jasmine Lewis recorded four saves on nine shots. Dexter (9-6) will play at top seeded Fort Kent on Tuesday.

The lone Raiders goal came from Evyeria Aretakis with 5:31 remaining. Taylor Bridges recorded seven saves on 17 shots. Washington Academy finishes the season with a record of 6-8-1.
