Erin Bogdonavich only allowed two hits Sunday to lead the Maine Black Bears softball team to a 2-1 home win against Binghamton at Kessock Field. Maine won two out of three games on the weekend. The two teams split Saturday with the Bearcats taking a 7-3 win before Maine won the second game 3-0.
On Sunday, Rachel Harvey and Felicia Lennon both had two hits a piece and Maine got their two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after Binghamton had taken a 1-0 lead in the second. Four other Black Bears also had hits as Maine had nine hits on the day.
Bogdonavich (5-4) only walked one batter and struckout four in her complete game effort.
Binghamton had been one of the hottest teams in the country coming into the weekend, bringing in an undefeated conference record and had won 12 of their past 13 games prior to Saturday. The Bearcats are now 21-12 overall and 7-2 in America East. Binghamton will host Cornell in a non conference doubleheader Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Maine improves their record to 17-15 and 6-2 in the conference. The Bears will host St Josephs College in a non conference matchup on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before heading to Albany for another big three game conference series on Saturday and Sunday.
